IT Product Owner — SAP Focus

Information & Technology > Application/Web Development

Summary

The IT Product Owner is a senior strategic role responsible for the commercial success, lifecycle management, and continuous evolution of one or more IT products or product families within the internal Enterprise IT portfolio. Acting as the primary voice of the customer/business, the Product Owner owns the product vision, roadmap, backlog prioritization, and value realization—ensuring tight alignment between business priorities, architectural direction, data-centric strategy, security/compliance requirements, and delivery execution. This role combines strong commercial accountability (product contribution to business outcomes), governance leadership, and operational excellence to drive consistent methodology, resolve cross-functional conflicts, secure stakeholder alignment, and position products for long-term relevance and competitiveness. With visibility into portfolio-level strategy forums, the Product Owner influences broader IT and business leadership decisions while focusing on data quality/processes as a foundational element of product strategy. In the initial 36 months, emphasis is placed on establishing robust product management frameworks, creating a comprehensive service catalogue, and enhancing integration between product and delivery streams.

Responsibilities

Define, own, and continuously refine the product vision, multi-year roadmap, and prioritized backlog to maximize business value, commercial contribution, and strategic alignment.

Review/validate roadmap feasibility, backlog prioritization logic, and value realization plans in collaboration with Delivery Managers, Architects, and business stakeholders; resolve scope, priority, and timeline conflicts.

Represent the product(s) in portfolio strategy forums, governance boards, escalation meetings, and executive reviews; act as senior escalation point for prioritization bottlenecks and scope disputes.

Secure and approve product plans, ensuring adherence to legal, trade, security, Ericsson policies/directives, information security standards, and data governance requirements.

Maintain full lifecycle ownership: from ideation through development, launch, operations, continuous improvement/automation, to eventual decommissioning or replacement.

Establish and enforce consistent product owner methodology, backlog grooming practices, scope management discipline, and operational consistency across multiple products/tools.

Keep data requirements, data quality, data solutions, and robust data processes at the core of product strategy, roadmap, and lifecycle decisions.

Track, analyze, and report product KPIs (adoption, value realization, commercial contribution), stakeholder satisfaction, roadmap execution status, and operational health.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives in product features, operations, automation, and integration maturity.

Synthesize business strategy, customer feedback, product metrics, and market/technical trends into actionable visions and prioritized deliverables.

Experience representing products at portfolio/governance levels and influencing senior stakeholders (CIO, business leaders, architects).

Strong telecom or enterprise IT background, with familiarity in managed services, connectivity platforms, or internal IT product ecosystems.

Hands-on experience driving data-centric product strategies, enforcing data quality/governance processes, and integrating data requirements into roadmaps.

Track record of conflict resolution, escalation handling, and cross-functional alignment in matrixed environments.
