Summary
The Windows/Linux SME (Subject Matter Expert) role involves managing, supporting, and ensuring optimal functioning of Windows and Linux systems. This position requires deep technical knowledge in handling system configurations, troubleshooting, and ensuring system security and efficiency.
Responsibilities
Manage and maintain Windows and Linux servers, ensuring high availability and reliability.
Perform system performance tuning and optimization.
Ensure system security through secure configuration and patch management.
Implement and manage backup and recovery procedures.
Troubleshoot hardware and software issues promptly.
Automate repetitive tasks using scripting.
Coordinate with other teams to resolve and prevent system-related issues.
Provide documentation and support for system policies and procedures.
Monitor and manage system capacity and performance.
Plan and execute system upgrades and migrations.
Qualifications and Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
5+ years of experience in managing Windows and Linux systems.
Proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Knowledge of network protocols and services (e.g., DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP).
Experience with virtualization technologies like VMware or Hyper-V.
Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Certifications such as MCSE, RHCSA/RHCE, or equivalent are preferred.
