The Release Train Engineer (RTE) is responsible for managing, optimizing, and automating release processes, as well as training development and operations teams on best practices. The RTE ensures seamless code deployments and a streamlined release cycle. The RTE typically works at the Program Level, focusing on an Agile Release Train (ART), which is a long-lived team of agile teams that delivers value in a value stream.
Responsibilities
Facilitate the Agile Release Train (ART) events and processes and assist the teams in delivering value,
Manage and automate the software release process,
Train development and operations teams on release best practices,
Develop and maintain release schedules,
Coordinate with QA teams for testing and validation,
Monitor post-release metrics to ensure stability and performance,
Maintain documentation for release processes and training materials,
Review and integrate new technologies to improve the release cycle.
Focus on removing impediments, managing risks, ensuring that the ART's objectives are met, and that the process is continuously improving.
Qualifications and Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field,
Minimum 3 years of experience in software development or release engineering,
Strong knowledge of DevOps and CI/CD pipelines,
Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies,
Excellent communication and training skills,
Proficiency in scripting and automation.
