An API Integration Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) to ensure seamless communication between different software applications. They collaborate with various teams, including software developers, product managers, and stakeholders, to create scalable, efficient, and secure APIs.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain APIs based on business requirements and technical specifications.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand end-user requirements and develop API solutions.
Create and maintain API documentation for internal and external developers.
Implement security measures to protect APIs from unauthorized access and potential threats.
Troubleshoot and resolve API-related issues.
Optimize API performance and scalability.
Monitor and analyze API usage to provide insights and recommendations for improvement.
Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies to ensure API solutions are current and competitive.
Qualifications and Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
3+ years of experience in software development, preferably with a focus on API development.
Strong knowledge of API development methodologies, standards, and best practices.
Proficient in at least one programming language commonly used in API development (e.g., Python, JavaScript, Java, Ruby, etc.).
Familiarity with API management tools and platforms (e.g., Postman, Swagger, Apigee, etc.).
Understanding of data formats (e.g., JSON, XML) and data exchange protocols (e.g., REST, SOAP, GraphQL).
Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).
Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
