Skill templates are a great starting point, but you may want to customize a skill so it describes what good looks like for your team at every level, and controls the questions people are quizzed on.
BEFORE YOU START
- You need permission to author content (Author content or Promote content). Only Promote content lets you publish without approval.
Edit the skill
- 1Open the Capability Map, select Skills, and click Edit on the skill's card.
- 2For each proficiency level, update the Expected Behaviors, add or remove Microskills (every level needs at least one), and set the Typical Experience.
- 3To edit a microskill, click Edit microskill properties. Add or change its Questions and answers and References, then click OK.
- 4Optionally, group related microskills into Skill Domains.
- 5Click Save. Your changes are saved as a draft, and you'll see Skill information saved but not published.
Publish your changes
Publishing works just like it does for roles: click the publish icon on the skill's card and confirm, or send a publish request if you don't have Promote content. See How to Customize a Role.
TIPS
- A skill's quiz only switches on once every microskill has at least two questions.
- If you have AI access, skills you created yourself offer Auto-fill with AI, Generate quizzes with AI, and Review with AI.
- You can't delete a skill while a role uses it. StackFactor lists the roles you need to update first.
