The Healthcare Data & Compliance Analyst is responsible for evaluating healthcare data, ensuring regulatory and policy compliance, conducting audits, and supporting data-driven decision-making in alignment with industry and governmental guidelines. The role directly supports quality improvement, risk mitigation, and data-driven strategies in healthcare organizations.
Responsibilities
Analyze healthcare data to ensure accuracy, quality, and compliance with regulations such as HIPAA, HITECH, and other state/federal standards.
Develop, implement, and monitor data governance and compliance frameworks across healthcare information systems.
Conduct internal audits and assessments to identify compliance risks and propose corrective actions.
Create reports and dashboards to present findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
Collaborate with IT, legal, and clinical teams to align data procedures with regulatory mandates.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of healthcare regulations, data security, and emerging compliance risks.
Support investigations for compliance breaches and liaise with regulatory authorities as needed.
Assist in developing and delivering compliance training programs to staff.
Ensure accurate data management throughout the data lifecycle including collection, storage, transfer, retention, and destruction.
Document and improve policies, procedures, and best practices regarding data protection and compliance.
Qualifications and Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Health Informatics, Data Analytics, Information Systems, Healthcare Administration, or a related field. Master’s preferred.
2+ years of experience in a data analysis, compliance, or similar healthcare role.
Strong knowledge of healthcare regulations (HIPAA, HITECH, CMS, etc.) and relevant compliance standards.
Proficient in data analytics tools (such as SQL, Excel, Power BI, and/or Tableau).
Experienced with Electronic Health Records (EHR) and Health Information Systems
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities.
Familiarity with data privacy and security best practices.
Certification in healthcare compliance (e.g., CHC, CIPP/US) or data analytics is a plus."
