Summary
A Linux Systems Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the infrastructure based on Linux systems. They ensure the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of information systems that support core organizational functions.
Responsibilities
Install, configure, and maintain Linux operating systems across a variety of hardware platforms and virtual environments.
Monitor system performance and security, ensuring compliance with security protocols.
Automate routine tasks through appropriate scripting and programming.
Troubleshoot and resolve system issues and failures, providing high-level support.
Collaborate with network engineers to ensure smooth operation of LAN/WAN and other networking systems.
Participate in disaster recovery operations and data backups when necessary.
Document system configurations, processes, and procedures.
Qualifications and Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
Proven experience as a Linux Systems Engineer or similar role.
Strong knowledge of Linux distributions such as Red Hat, CentOS, Debian, or Ubuntu.
Experience with system monitoring tools, automated backup & recovery solutions.
Familiarity with network setup and troubleshooting, including TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP.
Proficiency in scripting languages like Bash, Python, or Perl.
Certifications such as RHCE (Red Hat Certified Engineer) or CompTIA Linux+ are preferred.
