Summary
A Cybersecurity Analyst is responsible for protecting an organization's computer systems and networks from cyber threats. They continuously monitor, detect, analyze, investigate and respond to security events in order to prevent or mitigate security breaches.
Responsibilities
Monitor activity and respond to events in real time to identify potential security attacks
Review processes, analyze network traffic, retrieve and correlate necessary logs to identify anomalies, suspicious activities, or potential attacks.
Perform in-depth investigations to understand the root cause and the context of the event
Review, write and maintain detailed analysis and incident response reports
Work with the security teams to perform tests and uncover network vulnerabilities
Conduct threat and vulnerability research via OSINT and threat intelligence platforms
Stay updated on the latest security threats, trends, and attack techniques to proactively defend against emerging threats
Develop and promote best practices for information security
Qualifications and Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), SANS GCIA/GPEN, OSCP or other relevant certifications
Proven work experience as a Cyber Security Analyst or similar role
Knowledge of operating systems (Windows, Linux, Unix, etc.) and their security features.
Familiarity with network and host security monitoring tools
Familiarity with network and web-related technologies and protocols
Understand Incident Response processes
Understand concepts like Pyramid of Pain, Cyber Kill Chain and MITRE ATT&CK Framework
Problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
Strong analytical skills to identify and respond to cybersecurity threats
