Works alongside procurement colleagues while becoming familiar with how contracts underpin buying activity. Recognizes lifecycle stages, common contract types, and standard terminology, and can locate documents in the repository. Understands basic formation elements, supplier risk categories, and the role of KPIs and SLAs, asking guided questions to build context around compliance obligations and vendor relationships.
Novice
Supports routine procurement contracting under supervision, using templates to assemble scopes, pricing, and payment terms. Identifies standard clauses, rights, and obligations, distinguishes purchase orders from contracts, and routes documents for signature and filing. Performs onboarding checks, sanctions screening, and insurance tracking, monitors renewals, collects SLA and KPI data, and maintains scorecards, issue logs, and compliance evidence for review.
Intermediate
Independently drafts, redlines, and negotiates contracts using playbooks, structuring SLAs, pricing, liability, IP, and termination terms. Manages approvals, amendments, renewals, and obligation tracking within CLM tools. Segments supplier risk, evaluates financial, cyber, ESG, and continuity exposures, and coordinates audits. Designs KPIs and scorecards, facilitates business reviews, enforces service credits, drives root cause analysis, and integrates stakeholder feedback into vendor governance.
