AWS Shield

Information Technology > Transaction security and virus protection

Description

AWS Shield is a managed Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) protection service designed to safeguard applications running on AWS. It offers two levels of protection: Standard and Advanced. AWS Shield Standard provides automatic protection against common network and transport layer attacks at no extra cost. AWS Shield Advanced offers enhanced security features, including detailed attack diagnostics, real-time visibility into attacks, and integration with AWS WAF for more sophisticated threat mitigation. By leveraging AWS Shield, businesses can ensure their applications remain available and performant even during large-scale DDoS attacks, thereby enhancing the overall security posture and reliability of their cloud infrastructure.
