Azure Data Fundamentals
Information Technology > Cloud-based data access and sharingDescription
Microsoft Azure Data Fundamentals is a skill set that involves understanding and utilizing Microsoft's cloud-based data services. It starts with grasping core data concepts, such as relational and non-relational data types, and understanding basic data analytics. As proficiency increases, one learns to use tools like Azure Data Studio, implement data solutions on Azure, and manage data security. Advanced skills include managing and troubleshooting Azure data services, designing scalable data solutions, and using advanced analytics tools. At the expert level, one can administer large-scale Azure data solutions, handle complex data migration scenarios, and optimize the performance of Azure data services.

Expected Behaviors
Fundamental Awareness
At the fundamental awareness level, individuals are expected to have a basic understanding of core data concepts. They should be familiar with different types of data, including relational and non-relational data, and understand the concept of data processing. However, they may not yet be able to apply this knowledge in practical situations.
Novice
Novices are expected to describe types of core data workloads and have an understanding of basic data analytics concepts. They should also have knowledge of Azure data services and their common uses. At this stage, they can start applying their knowledge in simple, well-defined contexts.
Intermediate
At the intermediate level, individuals should be proficient in using Azure Data Studio and be capable of implementing data solutions on Azure. They should understand data security components such as firewalls and network security groups. They can handle more complex tasks and solve problems with some degree of independence.
Advanced
Advanced users are expected to manage and troubleshoot Azure data services effectively. They should be proficient in designing and deploying scalable, highly available data solutions. They should also understand advanced data analytics concepts and tools. At this level, they can handle complex scenarios and provide guidance to less experienced colleagues.
Expert
Experts are expected to manage and administer large-scale Azure data solutions. They should be capable of designing and implementing complex data migration and transformation scenarios. They should have a deep understanding of performance tuning and optimization techniques for Azure data services. Experts are often seen as thought leaders and are capable of driving strategic decision-making.
