Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)

Information Technology > Database reporting

Description

Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) is a server-based reporting platform that allows users to create, manage, and deliver both traditional, paper-oriented reports and interactive, web-based reports. With SSRS, you can create tabular, matrix, graphical, and free-form reports from relational, multidimensional, or XML-based data sources. Reports can include rich data visualization, including charts, maps, and sparklines. You can publish reports, schedule report processing, or access reports on-demand. SSRS also provides a 'Report Builder' tool for less technical IT workers to format SQL reports of lesser complexity.

Expected Behaviors

✎
LEVEL 1

Fundamental Awareness

At this level, individuals are expected to understand the basic purpose of SSRS and be familiar with its terminology. They should be aware of how the SSRS interface looks and have a basic understanding of the report creation process.

🌱
LEVEL 2

Novice

Novices can create simple reports using the Report Wizard and understand the concepts of data sources and datasets. They can apply basic formatting to reports and export them to different formats. They are starting to get hands-on experience with SSRS.

🌍
LEVEL 3

Intermediate

Intermediate users can design complex reports and work with parameters. They can implement expressions, create subreports, manage report subscriptions, and understand security features. They are comfortable with most aspects of SSRS and can handle moderately complex tasks.

⭐
LEVEL 4

Advanced

Advanced users can optimize report performance, implement advanced expressions, and create drilldown and drillthrough reports. They can customize report rendering, integrate SSRS with other Microsoft services, and troubleshoot common issues. They have a deep understanding of SSRS and can handle complex tasks efficiently.

🏆
LEVEL 5

Expert

Experts can design and implement a complete SSRS solution. They can perform advanced troubleshooting and performance tuning, implement custom code in reports, understand and apply best practices for SSRS, and train others on SSRS usage and implementation. They have mastered SSRS and can handle any task related to it.
