Harness
Information Technology > Continuous Integration/Continuous DeploymentDescription
Harness is a Continuous Delivery (CD) platform that automates the deployment of applications, reducing errors and increasing efficiency. It allows developers to build, test, and deploy their software in a streamlined manner. Harness provides features like automated rollbacks, performance analysis, and real-time reporting. Users can set up cloud providers, manage environments, create workflows, and implement pipelines. Advanced users can automate deployments with triggers, manage secrets, and use verification providers. Experts can leverage the Harness API for advanced usage, troubleshoot issues, optimize performance, and customize the platform to fit specific organizational needs. Understanding Harness requires knowledge of CD concepts and familiarity with YAML configurations.
Expected Behaviors
Fundamental Awareness
At this level, individuals are expected to have a basic understanding of Harness and its purpose. They should be familiar with the concepts of Continuous Delivery and Continuous Integration, as well as have a rudimentary knowledge of software deployment. This is the stage of initial exposure to the tool.
Novice
Novices can set up a Harness account and create an application within it. They should understand Harness YAML configurations and have a basic grasp of how to install Harness Delegate. At this stage, they are beginning to apply their knowledge in a hands-on manner.
Intermediate
Intermediate users can configure Harness Delegates and set up Harness Cloud Providers. They are capable of creating and managing Harness Environments, implementing Harness Workflows, and using Harness Git Sync. This level indicates a deeper understanding and ability to utilize more complex features.
Advanced
Advanced users can implement Harness Pipelines and manage Harness Services. They can use Harness Triggers for automated deployments, understand and use Harness Secrets Management, and implement Harness Verification Providers. At this stage, they are able to handle more sophisticated tasks and troubleshoot minor issues.
Expert
Experts can make advanced use of the Harness API and implement complex deployment strategies. They are capable of troubleshooting and resolving issues independently, optimizing Harness for performance and scalability, and customizing Harness to fit specific organizational needs. This level signifies mastery of the tool.
