Description
Enzyme is a JavaScript testing utility developed by Airbnb that makes it easier to test your React Components' output. It allows you to manipulate, traverse, and simulate runtime given the output. Enzyme's API is designed to be intuitive and flexible by mimicking jQuery's API for DOM manipulation and traversal. It works with any test runner and has splendid compatibility with Jest. With Enzyme, you can perform tasks like shallow rendering (testing components as a unit), full DOM rendering (ideal for use cases where you have components that may interact with DOM APIs), and static rendering (to analyze the resulting HTML).
Expected Behaviors
Fundamental Awareness
At this level, individuals are expected to understand the basic purpose of Enzyme and its role in JavaScript testing. They should be familiar with the concept of unit testing and have a basic understanding of JavaScript syntax.
Novice
Novices should be able to set up Enzyme in a project and write simple tests. They should understand the difference between shallow, mount, and render in Enzyme and be able to use Jest as a test runner. Testing React components using Enzyme is also expected at this level.
Intermediate
Intermediate users should be proficient in testing component props and states with Enzyme, simulating events, and testing lifecycle methods. They should also be comfortable using Enzyme with Redux.
Advanced
Advanced users are expected to handle more complex tasks such as testing connected components, asynchronous behavior, and integrating Enzyme with other libraries like Mocha or Chai. They should also be able to perform snapshot testing and mock modules with Jest and Enzyme.
Expert
Experts should be capable of optimizing Enzyme tests for performance, debugging complex issues, and integrating Enzyme tests into continuous integration pipelines. They should also be comfortable teaching others how to use Enzyme effectively and contributing to the Enzyme open-source project.
