Microsoft Visio

At the fundamental awareness level, users are expected to understand the basic purpose of Microsoft Visio and be able to recognize its interface. They should be familiar with the basic tools and features of the software but may not yet be comfortable using them without guidance.

Novice users should be able to create simple diagrams by adding and connecting shapes. They can apply basic formatting to shapes and text, and know how to save and print their diagrams. However, they may still need assistance with more complex tasks.

Intermediate users are comfortable using stencils and templates, and can create custom shapes and stencils. They understand how to work with layers and can insert pictures and clip art into their diagrams. They can also create flowcharts and organizational charts.

Advanced users can create complex diagrams and work with data graphics. They know how to link their diagrams to external data sources and can create custom templates. They can use Visio in conjunction with other Microsoft Office applications and are capable of creating process diagrams.

Expert users can automate tasks with macros and create dynamic, interactive diagrams. They are capable of designing and managing large-scale projects and can implement advanced data linking and visualization techniques. They can troubleshoot and resolve complex issues and are capable of training others in the use of Microsoft Visio.
