With Apigee, developers can create API proxies, configure API products, manage traffic, implement security policies, and monitor API performance. Advanced users can design custom analytics, optimize performance, and troubleshoot issues. Expert users can even design complex architectures and implement continuous integration/continuous deployment pipelines. Essentially, Apigee provides the tools needed to manage the entire API lifecycle in one place.
Expected Behaviors
Fundamental Awareness
At this level, individuals are expected to have a basic understanding of the API economy and Apigee Edge. They should be familiar with API management concepts and understand what RESTful APIs are. This is the initial stage where they are just getting introduced to the concepts.
Novice
Novices can create and manage API proxies and configure API products. They are capable of setting up developer portals and implementing security policies. They also know how to use the trace tool for debugging. At this stage, they are able to perform basic tasks in Apigee.
Intermediate
Intermediate users are proficient in designing and implementing API facades. They can manage traffic using quotas and spike arrest, transform API payloads using JavaScript, Python, XSLT, and implement OAuth2.0 security. They also monitor APIs with analytics. They are comfortable working with Apigee and can handle more complex tasks.
Advanced
Advanced users can implement advanced security with JWT, SAML, design and implement custom analytics, manage developer apps and keys, and implement cache policies for performance optimization. They are also skilled in troubleshooting and debugging with KVM and message logging. They have a deep understanding of Apigee and can handle complex scenarios.
Expert
Experts are capable of designing and implementing microgateway architectures, implementing CI/CD pipelines for Apigee, performing advanced troubleshooting and debugging, performance tuning and optimization, and designing and implementing multi-region deployments. They have mastered Apigee and can handle any situation or task.
